Let’s explore together the process of creating Dynamic M query parameters and utilizing them in Power BI Desktop through live demos.
Introduction to Microsoft Fabric Semantic Link
Microsoft’s Semantic Link is a powerful feature that provides a bridge between Power BI data sets and Synapse Data Science in the Microsoft Fabric.
Data scientists can connect to the Power BI ecosystem from within notebooks using Semantic Link and the provided SemPy library. For example, by eliminating the need to reimplement business logic embedded in Power BI measures, Semantic Link enables seamless collaboration between data scientists and business analysts. This approach ensures that both parties are able to work in an efficient and productive manner and maximise the potential of their data-driven insights. Microsoft’s underlying FabricDataFrame is the core data structure of Semantic Link. It is a subclass of the pandas.DataFrame and adds metadata such as semantic information and provenance. FabricDataFrame is the primary data structure that is used by Semantic Link to distribute the semantic information from the Power BI data sets to the data science environment.
In this session we will go into detail about the structures and capabilities of Semantic Link, SemPy and the new FabricDataFrame. We will also present several use cases that can be implemented using Semantic Link.
